9.04 repositories avaiable
Alpha repos for OpenGEU 9.04 Quarto di Luna are finally online. This repos are compatible with Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty and should be installed on any Jaunty based *buntu.
Be aware that this E version is still pretty unstable by many means and that some of our tools are not functioning well yet (such as the default configurations tool), but you can already have a preview on the exciting new features of OpenGEU. The greatest new is probably the new Geutheme, the OpenGEU Themes Manager, able of uploading themes for you to share everything you create directly with the OpenGEU community! Geutheme already works fully, even if a webpage for themes preview is planned and has yet to be released.
We are working on new repos too, with a stabler and better bug fixed E17 version. New themes and an upgrade assistant are on the work too.
As for upgrading from Luna Serena, it is still not suggested. To do it you should completely uninstall E17 from your Luna Serena system, upgrade Ubuntu normally and then install OpenGEU again from the new Quarto di Luna repos. So, maybe it’s better if you wait for us to deliver an automated solution, which is under work right now.
As for installing Quarto di Luna on your Jaunty System, you can find a full guide here.
We’re sorry for not being able to catch up with the current Ubuntu version every time but that’s pretty impossible, to be honest. E17 is still in development and now we also have to try and follow the unofficial E17 roadmap of release schedules. Plus, we’re having, as you know, problems finding themes developers and developers in general. So, any task is pretty long to achieve, but I think it’s worth the wait. Maybe one day, when and if we’ll have new developers helping the project (rather then creating clone distros), we’ll also be able to have an official roadmap with delivery dates like Ubuntu. But you know how many people work on the big one, and how much money is spent for it with every release cycle.
