Development phases. |
Status |

Phase 1: Feisty Themes and Configs Packages creation |
Idle |
We need to create a certain number of packages for the Geubuntu Themes and art related to Geubuntu Prima Luna (7.04). Here is the list of packages needed by the distro:
- geubuntu-desktop - geubuntu-artwork (This will install also the usplash screens and so on, like with the others Ubuntu metapackages of Kubuntu etc.) - geubuntu-configutations (Programs to startup, etc.) - geubuntu-themes (Metapackage for E17 themes and GTK themes for geubuntu)
You will find a zip compressed package of the contents supposed to be included in everyone of this files in the remote folder:
http://www.geubuntu.intilinux.com/Files/Feisty/
Inside of the .zip packages, you'll find the complete path in which every file has to be installed the moment a user installs the corresponding .deb package that has to be created. Of course, installing geubuntu-desktop has to automatically install each one of the others packages (geubuntu-desktop depends on them all).
In certain cases, a text file will be included in the .zip file, specifing extra required information.
Once a user will be able to succesfully install geubuntu-desktop and all of its dependencyes in a Feisty system, he'll be also able to upgrade to Gutsy, so that's where we need geubuntu 7.10 packages. |
Phase 2: Feisty extra applications .deb files |
Idle |
There's only one application actually not contained into the official Ubuntu repos that we need in our repos for the Feisty release: Songbird. The .deb package of this file can be simply found, ready for use, on the get-deb website. |
Phase 3: Geubuntu Feisty repositoryes created |
Idle |
This phase will be cleared the moment all the packages in Phase 1 and 2 will be organized into a Feisty repository apt-acessible, so that a user will be able to add our repos to his sources.list and install geubuntu-desktop automatically. |
Phase 4: Gutsy Applications proposals and testing |
Idle |
This phase will be cleared at any stage whenever we decide that the packages to be contained in the Gutsy release of Geubuntu has been choosen. Currently, I'm accepting proposals of configurations for Gutsy packages to be contained in Geubuntu 7.10 Luna Nuova. Here's a list, that's going to be updated while the time and tests passes, of new packages contained in Luna Nuova against those contained in Prima Luna:
- Thunar file manager instead of Nautilus - Xfce4panel instead of Gnome-Panel - Epiphany web-browser - Transmission instead of the gnome standard torrent manager - Gimmage image viewer - Wicd instead of Network-Manager (The latter never worked with entrance..)
And here's the complete list of packages to be removed and then reinstalled/installed to obtain the actual version of the experimental geubuntu Luna Nuova:
To be removed:

Extra packages to be installed and inserted in our repos:
wicd (deb http://wicd.longren.org feisty extras e per eseguirlo: /opt/wicd/tray.py) songbird (Get-deb) transmission gimmage usplash-switcher |
Phase 5: Gutsy Themes and Configs Packages creation |
Idle |
Same packages as for the Prima Luna release (7.04) are needed for Geubuntu Luna Nuova (7.10) too. The packages must have the same names as the previous ones:
- geubuntu-desktop - geubuntu-artwork (This will install also the usplash screens and so on, like with the others Ubuntu metapackages of Kubuntu etc.) - geubuntu-configutations (Programs to startup, etc.) - geubuntu-themes (Metapackage for E17 themes and GTK themes for geubuntu)
Contents and versions will be of course changed. As for the Feisty version, you'll find this new packages in the remote folder:
http://www.geubuntu.intilinux.com/Files/Gutsy/
Just remember: This Phase has to be handled only AFTER Phases from 1 to 4 will be CLEARED. So, for now, the .zip packages for this .deb files will be subjected to massive change and update. No use to create deb packages for them now. |
Phase 6: Geubuntu Luna Nuova Repos created |
Idle |
Repos has to be created with the new packages for Geubuntu Luna Nuova (7.10) accessible from a normal Ubuntu Gutsy, so that a dist-upgrade from geubuntu 7.04 to geubuntu 7.10 will be possible. |
Phase 7: Geubuntu Luna Nuova upgrade tests |
Idle |
Simply, tests will be processed to see if a dist-upgrade from Prima Luna to Luna Nuova will create any problem, with the new packages. |
Phase 8: Geubuntu Luna Nuova feature freeze and working test |
Idle |
Every volunteer will be able to download beta version of Geubuntu Luna Nuova, so that they will be able to test it and report bugs or various problems in the forums. After this, all that is possible to fix will be fixed and we'll move to: |
Phase 9: Geubuntu Luna Nuova released |
Idle |
Geubuntu releases will be available for download. At this stage, we'll start working on a new geubuntu release. |
Extra Phase: Development of new Themes for Luna Nuova |
W.I.P. |
This is just a phase that I'm working at now, it consists in creating new ORIGINAL artwork for Geubuntu Luna Nuova, almost finished. |
